Transponders

AMBmx Transponder

From 2010 onwards, riders in all classes at RHL Beach Races must provide their own approved timing transponder.

To help riders RHL Activities has negotiated a £15.00 discount on the purchase of Mylaps MX transponders from HS Sports (www.hssports.co.uk). This £15.00 discount is only available on telephone orders, and you will need to quote the discount code SWANSEA.

NEW MYLAPS 'FLEX ' Transponder, only £65.00+VAT

2011 sees the release of the new MYLAPS FLEX transponder, which is subscription based.  After paying for the initial purchase the transponder is active for 12 months, at the end of which it will turn itself off.  To use it for another year you just connect it to the  internet and pay online to activate it again..

If you are interested in looking into this option give us a call on 01260 275708 or e-mail us at info@hssports.co.uk.

To help with the transition to personal transponders a small number will be available for hire over the weekend. These will be on a first come first served basis and must be pre-booked online at www.enter4.co.uk/westonbeachrace

HS Sports has been the company responsible for the 100% reliable results at the RHL Beach Race for the last 5 years. The units can also be ordered from Mylaps Identification and Timing (www.mylaps.com).

Competitors who have their own Mylaps MX transponders already, and who have received their race number for the 2012 RHL Beach Race at Swansea, can register their Mylaps MX transponder identification number against their entry by sending an email to westonbeach@hssports.co.uk with the following information:

1. Name
2. Race Number
3. Class
4. Mylaps (AMB) MX Transponder Identification Number
5. Transponder Colour

With a race as big as the RHL Beach Race, with more than 1000 competitors on track during the main solo race, the transponders are an essential item. The use of an electronic timing system means that riders aren't forced to queue at the finish line to record their time and position and enables live timing to be displayed on the big screens around the infamous Weston dunes course, allowing the 100,000 strong crowd to keep track of who is doing what in the race.

Gareth Hockey: Director - RHL Activities Limited
"Electronic timing systems are becoming more popular at club events within the UK, and a lot of riders have invested in their own transponder as a result. This year those riders will be able to use their own transponder at the Beach Race, rather than having to queue to collect and return one of our units. In 2010 we switched to a system where each rider was responsible for providing their own transponder, either by buying or renting the unit, which made the signing on process and the timing at the race much more efficient. We've also done a discount deal with HS Sports to take the sting out of buying a transponder, which will allow infrequent competitors to rent units for the 2012 RHL Beach Race, in both Weston Super Mare and Swansea"

As it stands due to contractual agreements between the AMCA and transponder manufacturer Mylaps AMCA transponders will not work with the RHL  Beach Timing System.
