RHL Academy
Every competitor in each of the British Youth National classes will receive automatic entry into the RHL Academy scheme, which has been designed specifically to develop young talent in the United Kingdom.
On one level the RHL Academy will be used to identify those riders with the ability to excel in the sport, with the aim of providing coaching and mentoring to ensure they have the opportunity to realise their full potential.
This rider development programme will feature the all-important skills coaching, from some of the top riders in the world of motocross, but it will also include training in other areas of the sport.
Training, diet and dealing with the media are just some of the subjects that will be covered by the RHL Academy during the course of the season. Other subjects will include sponsorship, promotion and marketing, an understanding of which is necessary if a rider is to progress to the very pinnacle of the sport.
But motocross is an inclusive sport, which is why access to the RHL Academy will be open to all competitors, and not just the lucky few.
So, whether competitors are looking to improve their skills ready for a professional career, or simply to improve their racing, the RHL Academy is there for everyone.
Moving Up
One of the main problems facing riders as they graduate from youth to senior classes is one of cost, regardless of how talented a rider is. Contesting a full championship is expensive; prohibitively so for a lot of families.
For RHL development shouldn't stop when a rider graduates to the senior ranks, especially if that rider, with a bit more help and assistance, has the potential to eventually represent the United Kingdom on the world stage.
Which is why RHL Activities are currently negotiating with a number of the leading teams in the Maxxis British Championship to run a two-rider development team alongside their regular championship squad.
The plan is for two riders to be selected each season to complete a year in a fully funded development team, racing against the United Kingdom's best riders in the Maxxis British Championship.
During the season the selected riders would benefit from mentoring by the team's lead riders, as well as continued access to the RHL Academy development programme.
The aim of the development team is simple - to progress talented riders to the next level and to give them the best possible chance of realising their full potential.
